During the twentieth century there has been a great change in the lives of women. A woman

marrying at the end of the nineteenth century would probably have been in her middle twenties, and would be likely to have seven or eight children, of whom four or five lived till they were five years old. the world. She is noted for her strong backhand and her intense concentration during a match.

Christine Marie Evert was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She learned to play tennis from her father. Because she learned to play on the slow clay tennis courts which are common in southern Florida, Evert is at her best on slow courts.
